As an Aussie Specialist I am invited each year to join the Australian Tourism Board to further experience Australia and all that it has to offer and to meet local travel suppliers. Each time I visit I discover something new that renews my passion to share this exciting destination with clients. This enables me to learn even more about this amazing country and this is how I create the beautiful itineraries that my clients love.
Many people have a little knowledge of Australia and have a list of the places that they would like to visit. Here are a few of the highlights that you might like to incorporate into your trip.
Sydney
Sydney is one of Australia's largest and most beloved cities. For many Canadians it is the city where we begin our first 4 to 5 days on the island. With lots of natural beauty and invigorating city life, there's so much to explore. Some things you can do are; a behind the scenes tour of the Sydney Opera House, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, seeing the wildlife in the Blue Mountains, taking a cruise around Circular Quay Harbour, strolling through the Royal Botanical Gardens, and last but not least, taking surfing lessons at Bondi Beach.
Melbourne
With direct Air Canada flights from Canada to Melbourne it is becoming increasingly popular to visit this foody rich city. It's easy to feel captivated by the beauty of Melbourne. You could honestly get lost forever in all of its wonders. Although it's nowhere near as busy as Sydney, Melbourne has a bustling scene of its own. In the city, you can dine at one of many delightful restaurants or shop at any of the unique boutiques. Be sure to visit Federation Square, Flinders Street Train Station, the Yarra River, Chinatown, Bourke Street Pedestrian Mall, and the ever-so-popular Queen Victoria Market.
Great Ocean Road
Travel along Great Ocean Road for some of the most amazing sites in Australia. This coastal road stretches for 151 miles and makes the perfect 2-day trip. Take your time to soak in the views and be sure to stop at the 12 Apostles and all of the beaches and forests situated alongside the road.
Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Many people want to travel to the Red Centre on the famous rail journey The Ghan. This journey takes you from Adelaide to Darwin but it is so much more than a way to transit between two cities. It is something that must be experienced to appreciate. Some of the most magical moments can be experienced on this journey and at Uluru, including sunrise, sunset, and the most amazing stargazing.
Great Barrier Reef
One of Australia's most quintessential tourist attractions is the Great Barrier Reef. Since the reef stretches from below the Tropic of Capricorn way up to the northern tip of Queensland, the question arises where is the best place to experience it. I can explain to you the difference between Cairns, The Whitsunday Islands, Lady Elliot Island, and Cape Tribulation so that you can decide how you would like to incorporate this amazing wonder into your itinerary.
I know that for many, a trip to Australia is a once in a lifetime trip. I take very seriously the importance of this and work very hard to ensure that you experience Australia in a way that is perfect for you
